An Introduction to Wordpress
Like Blogspot, WordPress is a platform used to create a website. It has more features than Blogspot. It can be designed better than the website created in Blogspot and it is also a free platform. There is no cost involved. If you don't have to pay any hosting fee on Blogspot, after creating a website on Blogspot, you have to pay for uploading (hosting) on the internet every year. The cost of hosting varies according to the size. Mainly starts from two / three thousand.
Wordpress is a content management system. If you need to design an online website on Blogspot, you can design a website by installing Wordpress offline on your computer without using internet. After designing the website, you can upload (hosting) the website created on the internet. Then you can write content online in Wordpress.
Information website (Newspaper, Cultural, Tour & Travel, Food & Kitchen, Health & Fitness, Educational, Life & Beauty, Music & Video, Personal, Photography, Games etc). (free). You can also create an e-commerce website.
You can buy great themes (templates) for websites. You can also download the theme (template) from the internet for free. All you have to do is pay for the top level domain (.com). With a little bit of technical knowledge, you can make a good website at home by spending around Rs.

To install wordpress on a computer, you need to install xampp server (software).
To install xampp server do the following.
Step 1: - Open the web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft edge) installed on your computer.
Step 2: - Type xampp download in web address bar and press enter button.
Step 4: - The homepage of the website opens. Click on the download button of the latest version of xampp software to download Xampp.
Step 5: - New page opens xampp software starts downloading. The last left side of the web browser can be seen. After the download is complete, you need to install the xampp software.
Step 6: - Open the Download folder where the software is downloaded. Double click on the setup file.
Step 7: - If you have antivirus in your computer then this message box will appear. Then click on Yes Button. If you have not installed antivirus, the installation process will proceed.
Step 8: - A warning message may appear as shown in the picture below. Click on the OK button.
Step 9: - Click on Next button.
Step 10: - Click on Next button again.
Step 11: - Then you have to choose a location (folder) on the computer to install xampp files & folders. Note that if there is some problem in the operating system of the computer, if the computer is shut down (operating system is down) then all the files / folders in the c drive have to be formatted (deleted). So install xampp on any drive other than the mandatory C drive.
Step 12: - Click on the Folder icon to select the folder of drive other than C drive. My computer has E and M drives except c. I go to e drive and create a new folder and install xampp in the new folder.
Step 13:- Click on New Folder option after Organize option.
Step 14: - Type the name of the folder xampp and press enter button. Then click on the select folder button.
Step 15: - You have successfully selected the drive location to install Xampp. Then click on Next button.
Step 16: - Click on Next button again.
Step 17: - Click on Next button again.
Step 18: - Finish all the install settings and click on Next button again.
Step 19: - Now start installing Xampp software.
Step 20: - This way you can successfully download and install Xampp. Finally click on the finish button. Xampp server starts.
Step 21: - Control Panel of Xampp software appears on the screen. Apache and MySQL modules need to be started. For that click on Start button.
Step 22: - After opening Control Panel, it is mandatory to start Apache and MySQL.
How to download WordPress software?
Step 2: - Type wordpress.org in the web address bar and press enter button.
Step 3: - Click on the Get wordpress button on the right side of the website.
Step 4: - Scroll down the page. Click on the Download Wordpress 5.9 button as shown in the picture below.
Note: Wordpress 5.9 version order is increasing. The current version is 5.9.
Step 5: - Download begins. Then go to the download folder.
Step 6: - Copy the wordpress-5.9 folder. Then go to the folder where xampp is installed and paste it in the htdocs folder.
Step 7: - Since the file is zipped, the file has to be extracted. So right click on the file and extract it. It can be seen that the file has been extracted.
Step 8: - Go inside the folder. Copy the folder and paste it into the htdocs folder.
Step 9: - After placing the wordpress folder inside the htdocs folder, rename the wordpress folder to the website name you want to create and press Enter.
Since many projects need to be placed in this htdocs folder, it is advisable to rename the wordpress. I am currently working on a newspaper website. You can also keep others.
Now that you have successfully downloaded wordpress, now is the time to install wordpress. But before installing wordpress, you have to create a database.
How to create a database on Xampp?
Step 1: - Open the web browser.
Step 2: - Type http: // localhost / phpmyadmin / in web address bar and press enter button.
Step 3: - Click on Database Tab.
Step 4: - Name the database. I keep the newspaper here. Then click on the Create button.
Step 5: - From the left side menu option you can see the newspaper Database.
After creating the database, now you have to install wordpress.
How to install Wordpress on Xampp?
Step 1: - Open the web browser.
Step 2: - Type localhost / newspaper in the web address bar.
Step 3: - You have to choose the language to install Wordpress. English (United States) You can also run wordpress in Nepali language. I choose English (United States) language here this time. Then click on Continue button.
Step 4: - Now you have to keep the details related to Database as shown in the picture below.
Leave the newly created newspaper in the database name, root in the database username, blank in the database password, localhost in the database host and wp_ in the table prefix. After filling in the details, click on Submit button.
Step 5: - Click on Run the installation button.
Step 6: - As you can see in the picture below, in order to install Wordpress, you have to keep the title of your website. Username and Password are required to login to Wordpress software. In addition, the email address must be kept. Select in Search Engine Visibility. Then, click on the Install Wordpress button.
Step 7: - Wordpress installed information appears. Click on the Log In button to login to Wordpress.
Step 8: - After clicking on Login button, enter the newly created Username and Password for wordpress login and click on Log In button.
Step 9: - Congratulations on successfully installing Wordpress on your computer.
Step 10: - The main task after this is to write posts, create page, choose theme (template) for website and general wordpress settings. But before writing a post, you have to set the structure of the link of the post. Which we call permalink.
Step 11: - Click on setting button on Dashboard to set Permalink. Click on Permalinks option under Settings.
Step 12: - Under common settings of Permalink settings you can choose any option. You can also customize it. But permalink must be set before writing the post. The simpler the permalink, the more likely it is to rank or link to Google. So I clicked on the Day and name option.
Step 13: - Finally click on Save Changes button.
Now after setting this permalink, the task is to write the post (article).
How to write a post on Wordpress?
Step 1: - Click on the Posts option on the left side of the Wordpress dashboard. Wordpress already has a Hello world post. Click on Add New button to write a new post.
Step 2: - Write the headline of the news in the Add title as seen in the picture below. Write the news in detail in Type / to choose a block.
Step 3: - After writing the news, click on the Setting button behind the Publish button at the top right of the Dashboard.
Step 4: - Post related settings can be done.
For example, to publish or make it private or to protect the passport so that everyone can see it immediately.
Step 5: - Then you must create categories.
Categories include news related to entertainment (politics, ideas, sports, literature, arts, health, information technology, business, agriculture, lifestyle, employment). After these categories, designing a website comes in handy.
To create a new category, click on the Categories option under Posts on the left side of the Dashboard.
Step 6: - The name of the category in the name, the category name in the slug is done, write a short introduction related to the category in the description. Then click on Add New Category button. This way you can make the category mandatory according to your needs. You can also create a category by clicking on the Add New Category button in the menu on the right side when you write a post. For that, type in New Category Name and then click on Add New Category Button again.
Step 7: - When you write a post, under the publish on the right side, you can publish the post immediately or you can publish from the calendar on a certain date and time.
Then click on the Publish button.
Step 8: - You can view the post by clicking on View Post. This way you can write at least 20/30 posts. After writing the posts, the design of the website has to be changed as per the need.
Step 9: - After writing about 20/30 posts, move the mouse cursor to the title just above the dashboard to view your website. Then click on Visit Site option or type localhost / project folder name in web address bar.
Step 10: - As I put the project inside the newspaper folder, I typed localhost / newspaper in the web address bar and press enter, then the website opens. The website now appears as follows. As seen in the picture below, the design of the website does not look good. Now we have to change the design (theme, template) of the website. For that you can download for free from the internet or even buy.
How to download and apply themes provided by Wordpress: -
Step 1: - Click on Appearance button in the left menu.
Step 2: - Click on Add new button after themes.
Step 3: - You can see the lists of themes. But since we need the theme of Newspaper, click on Feature Filter to search for the theme.
Step 4: - Select News from Subject and click on Apply Filters.
Step 5: - You can only view themes related to Newspapers.
Step 6: Click on the theme to view it. After viewing the theme, click on the Install button at the top left if it suits your needs.
Step 7: - Then you have to activate the theme. Click on Activate button to activate. The Activate button is at the top left.
Step 8: - New theme is activated. This way you can download and install the free theme provided by wordpress. Click on the Visit site button to see what the theme looks like.
Step 9: - The design of your website seems to have changed more than before. Due to not giving photos in the posts, the photo does not appear in the posts in the website which does not have feature photo. So you have to put a mandatory feature photo in each post.
How to put a feature photo in a post
Note that when you write a post, you must put a feature photo in the posts.
Step 1: - As seen in the picture above Digital Advertising Business: European Publishers Council has filed a lawsuit against Google.
Step 2: - Go to Wordpress Dashboard. Click on Posts.
Step 3: - Click on the news headline.
Step 4: - Click on the Feature Image on the left side of the Dashboard.
Step 5: - Click on Select Files.
Step 6: - Select the photo on the computer and click on Open button.
Step 7: - Once the photo is uploaded, click on Set Featured Image button.
Step 8: - Feature image appears in the post and click on the Update button at the top.
Now you can reload the website. The photo appears in the post. In this way, when you write a mandatory post, you have to keep the feature image related to the post.
The next step is to update the link in the home menu of the website and update the setting of the theme of the website.
To set the theme of the website, you need to install the plugins provided by ChromeNews. In addition, other plugins can be installed as needed.
How to Activate Plugin in Wordpress?
Step 1: - Click on Begin installing plugins options to install the plugins provided by Theme in Blogger Dashboard. As can be seen in the picture below.
Step 2: - Click on install button in each plugin to install the plugin shown in the picture below.
Step 3: - Clicking on AF Companion plugin starts installing the plugin. Clicking on the AF Companion plugin shows the following image.
Step 4: - Once installed, click on Return to Required Plugins Installer option as shown in the picture below.
Step 5: - After installing, now you have to activate the plugin, for that click on Activate button.
Step 6: - Plugin successfully activated message appears. This way you can install other plugins too.
Step 7: - After installing Elespare plugin, Elementor plugin is also required to use this plugin. So even install the Elementor plugin. Click on Install Elementor button.
Step 8: - Click on Plugin Option on the left side of Dashboard to check if all Plugins are installed.
Step 9: - Then, you can see the list of plugin installed. In which two plugins are deactivated and the other is activated. Activate those deactivated plugins. For that, click on activate.
This is how you successfully installed and activated the plugin.
How to download free theme from internet and apply on website?
For this you have to search and download the theme (template) from the internet. Then apply the downloaded theme.
To download theme from internet: -
Step 1: - Open any web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge) on your computer.
Step 2: - When I have to download the theme for the magazine here, type “Free newspaper wordpress theme download” in the web address bar and press enter button. This way you can write other words instead of newspaper as needed. Choose a theme related to your business, profession. Download themes related to Personal, Educational, Health & Fitness, Food & Kitchen, Movies, Photography, Games, Video, Fashion, Culture, Music, Cars & Motorsports, Nature, Cartoons, Animals, Business, Travels etc. Please
Step 3: - Then the posts of many sites appear. To view the free themes (templates) provided by the websites, open the websites one by one. You can download it from any website. But here I open it by clicking on the website https://athemes.com/collections/free-wordpress-magazine-themes/.
Note: - You can also download wordpress themes by going to https://www.themes24x7.com/.
Step 4: - Then the website page opens. There you will find a list of themes. At the same time we can see the design and appearance of the theme through the Live Preview. Click on the Demo Button to see what the Layout looks like.
Step 5: - Then another page opens in the browser. The theme appears on that page. Check out everything in Theme. Well, now you can download the templates (Theme). If it doesn't meet your needs, you can still download other templates.
Step 6: - Another Wordpress page opens again. Click on the Download button. Download begins.
So you have successfully downloaded the theme related to your business according to your needs.
How to apply theme (template)?
Now you can apply on that theme website.
You have already installed Wordpress and know how to create a database. You can install another Wordpress and create a database and keep the theme. Because Wordpress and Database have to be created separately for each website. But I did it just for the sake of teaching. Therefore, I apply this theme in the local news that I made earlier. If you did not like the previous theme, then you can change the theme to the theme you downloaded from the Internet.
Layout of the website created from the previous ChromeNews Theme before the new Theme: -
Follow the steps below to apply the theme you downloaded.
Step 1: - Enter localhost / newspaper / wp-admin / in Web Browser. Wordpress login page opens. When you install Wordpress, type the username and password you created for Wordpress and click on the Login button.
Step 2:- After opening the WordPress dashboard, click on Themes option under Appearance menu option on the left side.
Step 3: - ChromeNews theme appears in Active. This means that the ChromeNews theme is currently running on the website. We have already installed and activated this theme. Now click on Add New button to apply another theme.
Step 4: - Then click on Upload Theme button.
Step 5: - Then click on Choose File button as shown in the picture below.
Step 6: - Now select the downloaded Theme file you have on your computer and click on Open button. Since I downloaded the file to the Download Folder, I selected the file from there.
Step 7: - Then click on Install Now button.
Step 8: - You have successfully placed a new theme on the website. But you can click on the Live Preview Button to watch this theme again. If you like the design of the layout, then click on the Activate button and apply the theme.
Step 9: - After clicking on Activate button, open the website to see if the template is applied. To open the website, visit the Visit Site button with the mouse name in the name of the website in the upper left bar. Click on that option.
Now you can see the posts on your website but some things are empty like Header Menu, Footer Menu, Plugin. You have to decorate that website.
Now you have to add content to the website as well as change the design and layout of the website. First of all, post on the website. Then change the layout design of the website from the Wordpress dashboard. Unless there is content on the website, changing the design of the website at the beginning, the website cannot be analyzed. So the best option is to post first and then change the design of the website.
I have presented above the method of updating the layout.
The work you have done so far is offline. Offline means you have designed this website only on your computer. This website can only be viewed from a computer.
Now the next task is to upload the website that you have created on your computer to the internet. Your website will be visible to your users around the world. After you have read the website on the local computer, you should buy hosting. After purchasing the hosting, the website you have created should be uploaded to the hosting server.
I will keep the task of uploading the website created on the local computer to the hosting server in the next version.
