Types of keys in keyboard and their functions.
Alt Key: -
This key is used to open file menus or ribbons. Later you can open the options by using other keys with that key.
Arrow Key: -
There are four arrow keys left arrow keys left arrow, up arrow, down arrow, and the right arrow in the middle of letter letters and number pad of computer keyboard and at the end of the keyboard.
Its main use is to move the text cursor. Used to move from one cell to another in the spreadsheet of MS-Excel. It is also used to play games on the computer.
Backspace Key: -
It uses the cursor in the document to delete the letters to the left. This is above the Enter key.
Caps Lock key: -
Using this key, letter letters can be typed in capital letters. It is also called Caps.
Control Key: -
The control key has two locations on the left and right side of the keyboard. It is used in conjunction with other main keys.
For example, in Ms-Word software, if you press Ptr with Ctrl, the Print Dialog box can be opened. Certain actions can be taken by using it. It is used with other keys like Copy (Ctrl + C), Paste (Ctrl + V), Cut (Ctrl + x) etc.
Delete Key: -
It works by deleting characters like Backspace. But it deletes the letters to the right from the cursor in the Ms-word document.
It is above the arrow key. It is also called del key. It can be used to delete files (photos, videos, audio), folders, on the computer. Deleted files, folders go to the recycle bin.
Enter Key: -
This key is just above the shift key on the keyboard. Ms-Word documents are used to create new lines or paragraphs. It is used to submit a website form, open a webpage, etc.
Print Screen key: -
The print screen key appears after the function key at the top of the keyboard. Pressing this key takes a screenshot and saves it to the computer's clipboard. The screenshot can be pasted (Ctrl + v) into the image editor (Ms-paint, Photoshop etc.) on the computer to edit the image as well as print it.
Scroll Lock key: -
The scroll lock key appears to be close to the Pause key at the top of the keyboard. Its use can prevent scrolling.
Pause Break Key: -
This key appears to be close to the Pause key. The break key is a keyboard key whose original purpose was to immediately halt execution of a running a program.
Insert key: -
The Insert key appears behind the backspace key at the top of the keyboard. The Insert key toggles how text is inserted by inserting or adding text in front of other text or overwriting text after the cursor as you type.
Home key: -
The home key is the control key. The text cursor in ms-word can be placed at the beginning of the line from anywhere in the line.
Using the Ctrl + Home key, the cursor can be moved to the first page from anywhere on the Ms-word page. Also, the cursor can be moved to the first start from anywhere, even on the webpage and cell. This key is right after the insert key.
Pg Up key: -
The Page Up key is right behind the Home key. Also pressing the Number 9 key on the Numeric pad acts like the Page Up key.
By pressing this key, if there are more than one page in Ms-word then the document will move up one page. If the website is very long, it is also used for scrolling up.
When you press the Page Up key with the Shift Key on a text document, it acts to highlight (select) a cursor from the place where the cursor is placed.
Pg Dn key: -
This key does the exact opposite of what Page Up does. The Page Down key is exactly below the Page Up key. Also pressing the Number 3 key of the Numeric pad acts like a Page Down key.
Pressing this key, if there are more than one page in Ms-word, move the document down one page. If the website is very long, it is also used for scrolling up.
When you press the Page Up key with the Shift key on a text document, it acts as a highlight (select) from the place where the cursor is placed to the bottom page.
End key: -
The End key works just like the Home key. The text cursor in the ms-word can be moved from anywhere on the line to the end of the line.
Using the Ctrl + End key, the cursor can be moved from any part of the Ms-word page to the last page.
Also, the cursor can be moved from any place, including webpage, document and cell. This key is located just below the Home key.
Escape Key: -
This key is located at the top left of the keyboard. Its main function is to stop any activity happening on the computer. Also used to close the dialog box of open software on the computer, window explorer on the computer, to go one step back to the website.
Numeric Keypad: -
Numbers on the right side of the keyboard (up to 0-9) as well as some other keys (/, *, -, +) are called Numeric Keypad.
Num Lock: -
This key can be used to turn off the Numeric Keypad and turn it on when using the keypad again. It is located at the top of the keypad.
Shift Key: -
It can be used to write letters in capital letters.
It is also used to write the symbols (!, @, #, $,%, ^, &, *, (,)) Above the numbers just below the function key of the keyboard.
This keyboard has two locations. The Caps lock key on the left is just below the Enter Key on the right.
Space Bar key: -
The longest key on the keyboard is called the space bar. It is located at the end of the keyboard. This gives a whitespace between the letters typed in Ms-word.
Tab key: -
Pressing Alt + Tabs key at the same time will switch to the programs opened in the computer.
In addition to this, it also goes to different parts of the software, highlighting the options.
Function Key: -
The buttons from F1 to F12 at the top of the keyboard are called function keys. Its main function is to perform certain tasks determined by the operating system or any software. As its general function is given as follows.
The tasks specified by the Microsoft window operating system are as follows.
- Increasing or decreasing the brightness of the display on a computer or laptop.
- Turn off, less or more of the speaker and mic sound in the computer.
- Play, pause, fast forward, and even rewind when playing audio or video on any Audio-Video player.
-Switch between windows.
-To adjust the light brightness of the keyboard.
-Searching function.
The following are the tasks specified by the Microsoft window operating system as well as other software.
F1 Key: -
-Help screen to open.
-Pressing Windows key + F1 opens the help and support center of Microsoft Windows.
-In Excel, pressing Alt + Shift + F1 simultaneously opens a new worksheet tab.
F2 Key: -
-Microsoft helps in renaming highlighted icons, files, or folders in Windows.
-In Microsoft Excel, to edit the active cell
-After pressing Alt + Ctrl + F2 in Microsoft Word, an open document window opens.
- Pressing Ctrl + F2 simultaneously in Microsoft Word opens the print preview window.
- To open the computer's BIOS Setup.
F3 Key: -
- It can be used to search from Microsoft window.
-In Microsoft Word, pressing Ctrl + F3 simultaneously converts highlighted text into lowercases.
-If you press Shift + F3 only once, the first letter of the letter changes to upper (capital) and if you press it a second time, all the letters change to upper (capital).
F4 Key: -
- Works to open the address bar of Windows Explorer and Browser (Microsoft Edge).
-Repeats the last action done in -ms-word.
-Alt and F4 keys pressed together to close the open program window on the computer.
-Ctrl and F4 keys pressed together to close open windows and tabs in software.
F5 Key: -
-In Internet browsers, pressing F5 function key is used to refreshes or reloads open website.
-To refresh the contents of the folder.
- Pressing F5 key in Microsoft Word opens the Find and Replace dialog box.
-Ms pressing F5 key in PowerPoint does slideshow from first slide. Shift + F5 works from slide to slide show.
F6 Key: -
- Moves the cursor to the address bar of Mozilla Firefox and other browsers.
F7 Key: -
- Spell check and grammar check function in Microsoft word.
-Pressing the Shift + F7 button key simultaneously in Microsoft Word opens the Thesaurus dialog box for highlighted characters.
F8 Key: -
- Works to open Windows startup menu. Especially for accessing Windows in Safe Mode.
F9 Key: -
-To send and receive e-mail in Microsoft Outlook.
F10 Key: -
-In most Microsoft Windows programs, the F10 key activates the menu bar or ribbon.
- When you press the Shift + F10 keys on the keyboard together, the right click option appears on the highlighted icon, file, or Internet link.
- To open the computer's BIOS Setup.
F11 Key: -
-Helps Internet browsers in full screen removal.
F12 Key: -
- Save as window opens in Microsoft Word.
-Pressing the Ctrl + F12 key together in MS Word opens a document dialog box.
-Ctrl + s as well as Shift + F12 key also works to save open unsaved document file in Microsoft Word.
-Ctrl + p as Ctrl + Shift + F12 opens a print dialog box to open a document in Microsoft Word. in.
